———————————— Help Keep Fjord CleanUP Warm & Oslofjord Clean This Winter We’re just asking for a small sauna — so we can keep cleaning Oslofjord this winter. Fjord CleanUP is a volunteer-run environmental organization. Since 2019, we’ve removed over 150 tonnes of waste from Oslofjord, Akerselva, and Lysakerelva. We have one clear vision: To clean and restore Oslofjord back to life — and do it while having fun and cultivating a community based on inclusivity and kindness. Now, we’re being denied permission to place one small, solar-powered, mobile sauna trailer beside our tent at Lysaker Marina, where we already have approval and a 96,000 NOK public grant to operate. The sauna is essential — not for comfort, but for volunteer safety during winter cleanups and fjord restoration work. We’ve followed every rule, submitted a full application with architectural drawings, and proposed a 2-year, non-commercial use. Still, we were told no. Meanwhile, commercial actors like Fjordtokt run two saunas at the same site — without any permit from Bymiljøetaten (confirmed in writing). We support their right to be there — but why are we being blocked for doing everything by the book? This is our second time being displaced. We’ve already been through a hearing at Rådhuset. We’ve had political support. We’ve been nominated for Oslo Miljøpris three years in a row — and will be honored at City Hall in September, even as the same system stops us from continuing our work. We’re not asking for special treatment — just equal treatment. Let us keep doing what Oslo claims to support. Sign to support: - Public health and fjord cleanups — even in winter - Grassroots environmental work with public backing - Fair and transparent use of public land Sign the petition. Share it. Let us clean.

This is an organization formed of volunteers, many not from here, who care about and want to contribute to the environmental health of the Oslo fjord and waterways. Is this really too much to ask??

It’s nonsense a non-profit with so many volunteers, such proven results is held back by the system so much. A system that initially seems like it wants to support it, yet when a small request aiming to improve safety & health of their volunteers is made it fully pulls the brakes on everything.

So much for likestilling! I cannot understand why Fjord CleanUP is being treated so unfairly. The forced move from Bjørvika revealed a sinister neoliberal capitalist element to the way our kommune is administered. As a grassroots organisation, Fjord CleanUP is by the people for the environment and should be supported by the local government. Enough obstacles...let them clean the fjord and warm up afterwards!

When will you people finally understand. This was never about the environment, whatever 'green' initiative the politicians are pushing. It has been - and ALWAYS will be - about the money going into the right pockets and blindsidig the public. Petition signed because - why not.

It is insane that people who are willing to help the environment and get punished and push out like this. I hope this won't be so ironic again.

Volunteers who take part in fjord clean-ups play a vital role in protecting fragile marine ecosystems, safeguarding wildlife, and preserving the beauty and health of Norway’s coastal heritage for future generations. Their work often involves braving cold water, heavy lifting, and long hours, all driven by a shared commitment to the environment rather than personal gain. To truly value this effort, local kommuner should provide consistent support through funding for equipment, waste disposal, and safety gear, as well as by raising public awareness and encouraging community participation. With proper backing, these clean-ups can grow from small grassroots actions into powerful, long-term environmental stewardship.
